May 9, 2018- Would you like a hot cross bun...from India?

Agenda:

  • Field trip permission forms due by Friday
  • Running club forms sent home
The Top Three Things We Learned and Did Today:
  • During our bellringer this morning, we read a chapter book and looked for words and sentences we liked.  We recorded these into our idea banks so that when we write our stories, we have ideas to look at and use.
  • In social studies, we started our study of India.  We learned what countries are around India: China, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Bhutan.  We also found out it is in Asia. We also coloured the flag and we did a suitcase of what we would pack.  The circle in the middle of the flag is known as the "wheel of law."
  • In music, we tried three different kinds of xylophones.  The first was quite small and high pitched, called a glockenspiel.  The second was a medium size and it was called a metallophone and the third were larger and called a xylophone.  We learned to play the song "Hot Cross Buns" on them and some of us tried to play it with our eyes closed! It was the first song played by xylophone players.
  • We also played games using the parachute!
