  • On Wednesday we did our science test.  The grade 3 test was different than the grade 4 one.
  • On Thursday we had our first swimming class.  We got sorted into groups based on our level.  We went into the tanks and the lanes and practiced skills such as the front crawl.
  • As per usual, we have been working on patterns.  We did lots of increasing pattern activities with questions and pattern rules.  A pattern rule tells the appearance of a pattern.
  • In art, we finished our haunted house art.  We added cracked windows and spider webs or shadows.
  • Today for Fresh Air Friday we walked to a community mural and drew pictures from it.  Then we went to a sidewalk covered in drawings like sunflowers.  After that we went to the community garden.

  • In math yesterday we learned a new math game called Last Chance.  You had to draw cards until you thought you were closest to 31 points.  Then you would say last chance and show your cards to see whose cards were closer.
  • We have been working on spooky stories in language arts.  We were working on catching mistakes.  It has been lots of fun to do.  If we have finished our beginning and middle, we could type them out.

  • In music we practiced for the CBC Music Challenge.  In our class there are two guitarists, one pianist, and lots of percussion and xylophone players.  People also sing and do magic tricks and dance with mr. O'Reilly.

What did we do this week?
  • Today is science we started off by reviewing what we did on Friday.  Ms. Jones asked us which way the EMS sign on ambulances face.  Then she told us we were going to use mirrors to read and write things.  We had to write a question about what we learned in science and write the answer down using a mirror.  We will be giving the answers to other students to decode!
  • In math, we were learning about patterns!  We had messy mats and we did increasing patterns on them.  Then we took out our scribblers and graph paper and we did our own patterns.
  • In music we practiced for the CBC Music Challenge and at the end we practiced all together with the singers.
  • This week in gym, we have been practicing soccer by doing games and exercises.  We did separate games today with one catch...you had to trap the ball in between the goal posts to earn a point, so it was harder than normal soccer.  We had to persevere!
