January 15, 2018- We are Ethno-music-tologists!

Agenda:
  • Homework: Read 20 min, bell ringer due, math (pg. 92 #1-3) due tomorrow
  • book orders due Jan 25th
  • We have drumming all this week and a performance this Friday
  • Please make sure you are dressed for the weather
The Top Three Things We Learned and Did Today:
  • In our first class of drumming, we found out our teacher is quite funny!  We learned how to use our hands to make a pattern.  He showed us a big tar drum that would be used by people in the African desert because they were light to carry.  The drums we are playing come from West Africa where there is a lot more wood to find (the jungle).
  • In art, we picked a person or pet to write four similes about.  We then had to sketch them in our visual journals.
  • In gym, the volleyball nets were up.  As part of our warm up, we will now have to practice our underhand serves and to try and get them over the net.
What do we need to do next?
In art, we have to look up for pictures that will help us describe our similes.  We will put these pictures onto our sketches, that will be put outside in the hall for everyone to see.
