What did we do today?
  • First thing this morning in math, the grade 3s worked on their Shady Works activity and then we learned about fractions in sets.  The grade 4s played a decimal place value game and we learned how to order and compare fractions.
  • The grade 5/6 science fair was today.  We got to hear and see what they have been working on since November.  There was booths about bottle flipping, flower food, how many carbs are in different drinks, how fast a Gatorade would cool and how fast certain chocolate melted.
  • After recess in gym, we played silent soccer in the classroom since the science fair was in the gym.
  • In music, are spots for tomorrow's show were decided and Mr. K taught us something called a jam session, where we make up our own rhythms.  We also practiced our song for tomorrow.
  • In Daily 5, we finished our assignments, hand art and social questions.
  • At the end of the day in social studies, Ms. Jones read us a book about how tipis were given to the Blackfoot.  We were also given a map of the range the buffalo once roamed. As anthropologists, we studied pictures of tipi designs and sketched them.
Questions:
1. I wonder who will be chosen for science fair?
2. What are the different meanings of the different tipis?
3.What is the main design put on tipis?
