February 15, 2017- Dr Coffin is awesome because...

Agenda:
Read 30 min
Homework: practice multiplication facts
No school Thursday, Friday and Monday

What did we do today?
  • At the start of the day in math, the grade 4s worked on comparing and ordering fractions while the grade 3s finished their representing fractions activities.
  • This morning in gym, we had cards with certain movements and balances which we had to do on the equipment.  We had to perform each one during our turn to create our routine.
  • After recess, we started to paint our tipi "buffalo" skins.  We had to finish drawing the designs with Sharpie.  On the bottom or skirt of the tipi we had to have symbols of Mother Earth.  We drew spirit animals in the middle and the stars and heavens at the top.
  • Instead of doing our Daily 5 activities, Ms. Jones gave us a speech bubble shaped paper which we would have to write why Dr. Coffin is awesome.  They will be displayed on the bulletin board by the office.
  • In music, we finished our diagrams of the ukelele in our music journals and we answered two questions.  Then we went to a quiet spot to practice our songs.
  • At the end of the day we had the opportunity to do a desk clean.  We also had to check our book boxes to make sure our book choice were current and after that we had to finish our math.
Questions:
1. What will our tipis look like when they are finished?
2. How hard will it be to put the poles together to construct the tipi?
3. How long will it take for us to put our tipis up and how long does it take in real life?
4. Will the tipis be sturdy and strong enough to last a long time?
