What did we do today?
  • At the start of the day in math, we did Multiplication Ninja Monday and then after gym worked on fraction activities on Mathletics.
  • This morning in gym, the gymnastic equipment was back up so we explored different balances, travel and jumps.
  • After recess until our health class in the afternoon, we talked more about tipi designs and we learned about how tipis were set up.  We also made notes and sketches in our social duotang.  Women sat on the south side of the tipi and the men sit on the north side.  The door is always pointed to the east so that they are greeted by the sun and will warm them up. Then we got into our tipi groups and we created a design for the tipi we are going to make tomorrow.
  • At the end of the day in health/art, Mrs. Wilkens read us a book about being kind.  We then made little valentines to put on the bulletin board in the hallway.  Our valentine writing had to include something we learned and about being kind.
Questions:
1. I wonder what materials the Blackfoot used to paint their tipis.
2. I wonder how long it takes to make and put up a tipi.
3. I wonder why the spirit animals have lifelines drawn on them.
