  • We had a bench dedication for Ms. Kestner.  She used to teach the grade 2/3 class.  Some of the grade 5/6 students shared memories about her since they were in her class.
  • In science, we learned about the different parts of a flower.  They are called the sepal, the pistil and the stamen.  We went into the Whispering Woods and found a flower to draw and dissect, looking for each part of the flower.

What We Did and Learned Today:
  • We played the game predator and prey today.  We learned that it is hard to survive as a herbivore, they do a lot of running.  We learned that carnivores eat herbivores and the humans effect both.  When you are a carnivore, you have to use all your senses to find your prey.  Herbivores had a hard time finding different food sources, and they were competing with other herbivores.

  • In social studies, we learned about pysanky eggs, otherwise known as Ukrainian Easter Eggs.  Using symbols, we had to design a pysanky egg with three or more symbols that represented something about our families.  Ms. Jones was very impressed with our egg designs!
  • In Daily 5, we are working hard to finish our stories. If we finished, we started to work on a story cover and a picture for each of our four events.
