  • In social, we read some information about living in the city and in the villages in India.  We learned that the apartment buildings in India have twenty one room apartments on each floor and that each family had to share the one bathroom on every floor.  In the villages, people will sleep on the roofs of houses if they have no home.
  • During computer lab, we continued to type out our second and third events to our stories.  We also looked at the endings of different stories and we identified them as a memory, hope/ wish, decision, or feeling.

Top Three Things We Did and Learned Today:
  • In music, we thought up of a word that could tell a story.  Then we added five more words to make a six word story.  Then we had to write a story using the alphabet.  For example: A big cat did eat food, greasy hog ignited juice ko
  • In science, we checked on our bean plants.  A few of them have now sprouted from the soil. We had to draw and write down our observations, as well as analyze what we should do to help our bean sprouts grow.
  • Today in gym, we practiced our passing before playing a game.  We were allowed to take three steps before passing the ball to a teammate.  We had to have four passes before you could shoot on the net.

  • In science/ art we finished sketching the seeds we found on Friday.  We labeled the type of seed they were and we wrote a couple of notes about each one.  The aspen trees have seeds that look like caterpillars.
  • In math we continued our study of area.  We learned how to break irregular shapes into rectangles so that we can use the l x w formula instead of counting all the squares.
  • Today in gym, we played our first "game" of lacrosse.  As a class we passed the tennis ball to each other four types before trying to score on net.  We also tried having only one person from each team going after the ball.

Top Three Things We Did and Learned Today:
  • We collected different seeds from the Whispering Woods.  Then we had to use our sketching skills to draw the seeds we found in our Fresh Air Friday journals.

  • Today we learned about how seeds get dispersed.  Some seeds use the wind and water, while many use animals.  We learned that coconuts are floater seeds because they are hollow.  Other seed types are: fruit, hitchhikers, catapulting pods, winged seeds, and seeds with hair.
